Owner Yukia Walker has constantly struggled with her weight throughout childhood into adulthood. So, when it came time to experience one of the most memorable times of her life, she unexpectedly had struggles there too.

Armed with a pretty generous budget, she began the search for her most important gown ever, the gown her husband would forever remember her in. To Walker’s dismay, there was an extremely small selection for her to choose from at the numerous designer gown boutiques she visited. When she arrived at her appointments, she was horrified to see that her 14/16 size frame had to be stuffed and paper clipped into a size ten gown just to get an idea of how she may look on her special day.

After being laughed out of one salon when she requested a size 16 sample, and growing tired of having her younger and smaller sister (whom is not built like her) try on gowns for her; she decided to try one last place… which is considered among most as the Supermarket of Bridal Wear. This felt as if she were in a cattle call for brides. The fabrics that she had envisioned wearing weren’t up to the standard she had dreamed of. The dream of wearing a beautiful designer dress was now reduced to choosing between off brand designers. She refused to spend her money in a place where she was not happy and clearly was not being accommodated.

After hearing other full-figured brides’ horror stories, Walker decided enough was enough!!
